1,300 IAS, 505 IPS Posts Vacant: Govt Informs Lok Sabha
- •As many as 1,300 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 505 Indian Police Service (IPS) posts are currently vacant.
- •Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that 5,577 IAS officers are in position against 6,877 sanctioned posts, and 4,594 IPS officers against 5,099 sanctioned posts.
- •Recruitment for IAS is done annually with 180 candidates since 2012, including 4% reservation for PwBD candidates.
- •No backlog vacancies exist in IAS or IPS as of January 1, 2025, with reservation norms being followed.
- •Over the past five years, 245 OBC, 135 SC, and 67 ST candidates were appointed to IAS, and 255 OBC, 141 SC, and 71 ST to IPS.
