Andamans Gears Up for Major Earthquake, Tsunami Mock Drill on March 16
•A mock drill on earthquake and tsunami will be conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Monday, March 16.
•The exercise, organized by the Directorate of Disaster Management, will run from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
•It involves coordination with the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), and other emergency functionaries.
•The primary objective is to test disaster communication systems, inter-departmental coordination, and early warning dissemination.
•Emergency sirens will be activated at designated locations; essential services and public activities will continue as usual, with public cooperation requested.
