Arunachal Minister Pledges Support to Strengthen ULBs, Ensure Devolution of Powers

• Arunachal Pradesh Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja assured full support to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) for strengthening and effective devolution of powers.
• A coordination meeting was held with newly elected officials of Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) and Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) to discuss urban development and institutional strengthening.
• ULB officials requested the transfer of more subjects, as per the 12th Schedule of the Constitution, to enhance self-sustainability and responsiveness.
• Concerns were raised regarding limited revenue sources and the need for improved municipal financing, including a dedicated state budget window.
• The minister committed to addressing issues with the Chief Minister and ensuring rectification of subjects currently allocated to line departments despite being devolved to ULBs.
