Bangladesh Parliament Unanimously Elects Hafizuddin Ahmed as Speaker, Kayser Kamal as Deputy

•Bangladesh's Jatiya Sangsad unanimously elected Hafizuddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, as Speaker and Barrister Kayser Kamal as Deputy Speaker.
•The election took place during the inaugural session of the 13th Parliament, formed after the February 12 polls.
•Hafizuddin Ahmed, a retired military officer and 'valiant freedom fighter', is a 6-time MP and former Minister for Liberation War Affairs.
•Barrister Kayser Kamal, MP from Netrakona-1, is a young figure in national politics and BNP's legal affairs secretary.
•President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the official oath to both officials in the presence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
