Bengal SLST Group D Exam: 8 Lakh Candidates Appear for School Posts Amidst Strict Security
•
Over 8 lakh candidates appeared for the first State Level Selection Test (SLST) for Group D non-teaching staff in Bengal's government-aided schools.
•
The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) conducted the exam on March 8 for 5,489 Group D vacancies across 1,707 centres.
•
Strict security measures were in place, prohibiting electronic gadgets and closed footwear; the OMR test carried 40 marks.
•
The recruitment fills posts left vacant after the Supreme Court termed the 2016 SSC process "tainted and vitiated," terminating 26,000 employees.
•
Around 2,000 invalidated but "untainted" Group D staff from the 2016 recruitment were also allowed to reappear for the test.
