Biz Chamber Urges RBI Relief for Exporters Amid West Asia Disruptions
•The Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC) wrote to RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra for supportive banking measures for exporters.
•Exporters are facing disruptions in global logistics and shipping routes due to ongoing tensions in West Asia.
•The situation has led to diverted shipping routes, port congestion, higher freight/insurance costs, and extended transit periods, straining working capital.
•BCC urged RBI to encourage banks to enhance working capital limits, provide ad-hoc credit, extend export credit tenure, and offer flexibility in packing credit rollover.
•Requests include extending loan repayment moratorium, regulatory relief from penal interest, and extending the permissible transit period for usance export bills.
