CAG: Only 52% MGNREGS Works Completed in Maharashtra in 5 Years
•
Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report reveals only 52.81% of MGNREGS works in Maharashtra completed between 2019-20 and 2023-24.
•
Out of 25.72 lakh approved works, 7.10 lakh had not started by March 2025, with 2.48 lakh pending for over three years.
•
Rs 5,361.02 crore spent on incomplete works, while Rs 6,725.65 crore on completed ones.
•
Only Rs 2,268 paid out of Rs 34.85 lakh due as unemployment allowance, leaving Rs 34.83 lakh unpaid.
•
CAG flagged deficiencies in social audits, with recovery pending in 314 misappropriation cases involving Rs 4.44 crore due to inadequate funding.
