Centre Aims for 6 Crore 'Lakhpati Didis' by 2029-30: Union Minister Chouhan

• Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the new target of creating six crore 'Lakhpati Didis' by 2029-30.
• The previous goal of three crore 'Lakhpati Didis' by 2027 was achieved by 2025, thanks to efforts from the rural development ministry, bankers, and state governments.
• A 'Lakhpati Didi' is defined as a woman with a net annual income of one lakh rupees or more; currently, 3.01 crore women have reached this milestone.
• The new target, set by PM Modi, will focus on bringing women with lower incomes to the 'Lakhpati Didi' status, requiring greater effort.
• A special drive will be launched to enroll more women into Self Help Groups (SHGs) to help achieve this ambitious goal.
