Chhattisgarh Cabinet Clears Bill to Curb Forced Religious Conversions
•The Chhattisgarh cabinet approved the Chhattisgarh Dharm Swantantraya Vidheyak, 2026, aimed at preventing religious conversion through force, inducement, or fraudulent means.
•The decision was made at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.
•Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao stated the bill seeks to effectively curb conversions from one faith to another by force, allurement, undue influence, or false representation.
•The cabinet also approved the withdrawal of 13 cases related to political protests and determined new grant rates for non-conventional energy projects.
•Other key approvals include bills for a Staff Selection Board, prevention of unfair means in exams, and abolishing cess on property registration.
