Delhi Govt to Audit Discoms Over Rs 38,000-Cr Dues: Power Minister Sood

Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood announced a CAG audit of discoms regarding Rs 38,000 crore in outstanding dues.

The Delhi government aims to protect consumers and prevent additional burdens from tariff revisions.
•
Regulatory assets, the difference between supply cost and revenue, have accumulated due to no tariff hike since 2014-15.
•
DERC's affidavit to APTEL shows total regulatory assets of Rs 38,552 crore, with interest rising by Rs 15 crore daily.
•
The Supreme Court directed DERC to prepare a recovery plan for these dues, to be cleared over seven years starting April 1, 2024.
