Delhi roads: CAQM finds high dust, waste burning; DDA negligence cited

  • CAQM conducted a road inspection drive on December 12 across 136 DDA-jurisdiction road stretches in Delhi.
  • The inspection aimed to assess visible dust, Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste, and open burning.
  • Findings included high dust levels on 15 stretches, MSW accumulation on 55, C&D waste on 53, and evidence of waste burning on 6 stretches.
  • The CAQM noted gaps and negligence in upkeep, urging DDA to enhance operational efficiency and implement corrective dust mitigation measures.
  • Targeted inspections under 'Operation Clean Air' will continue to ensure adherence to dust control and open burning prevention regulations.

Why It Matters: Your health is at risk from Delhi's persistent air pollution due to dust and waste.
