Himachal CM Bans Mobile Phones in Schools from March 1, 2026; Fines, Counselling for Violators

• The ban was announced at the closing ceremony of the 69th National School Games Under-19 Girls Handball Tournament in Ghumarwin, Bilaspur district.
• Students caught with phones will face a Rs 500 fine and device confiscation; parents will undergo mandatory counselling.
• The Education Department will draft an SOP for repeated violations, aiming to reduce distraction and promote interpersonal growth.
• CM Sukhu also highlighted efforts to promote sports, announced employment for female Asian Games athletes, and a Rs 20 lakh prize for the Himachal handball team.
