Himachal Pradesh Honored for Completing First MMI Census Ahead of Schedule

• Himachal Pradesh's Jal Shakti Vibhag received an award from the central government for completing the first Major and Medium Irrigation (MMI) Census under the Irrigation Census 2023-2025.
• The award was presented by Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil to Jal Shakti Vibhag Secretary Abhishek Jain in New Delhi.
• Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu lauded the department's efforts, emphasizing irrigation's role in agricultural productivity and rural economy.
• The MMI Census aims to create a national repository of irrigation data, classifying projects based on Culturable Command Area (CCA).
• Himachal Pradesh covered 10 MMI projects (1 major, 9 medium), completing 8 projects ahead of the December 2025 deadline.
