IAS Rashmi Kamal Appointed Director of Census Operations for West Bengal

• IAS Rashmi Kamal (2006-batch, West Bengal cadre) has been appointed Director of Census Operations and Director of Citizen Registration for West Bengal.
• Her appointment is for three years or until further orders, effective January 14, under central deputation with headquarters in Kolkata.
• The Census 2027 will be conducted in two phases by the Registrar General of India.
• The first phase, Houselisting Operations (HLO), begins on April 1, with states/UTs having a 30-day window between April 1 and September 30.
• The second phase, Population Enumeration (PE), collecting demographic and socio-economic details, is expected in February next year.
