India, Canada to Resume FTA Talks This Week: Piyush Goyal

•Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that India and Canada are expected to finalize terms of reference for FTA negotiations this week.
•Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to India on February 26 will coincide with the planned launch of these talks.
•The previous trade pact negotiations were paused by Canada in 2023, and both nations have decided to restart discussions from scratch.
•India's exports to Canada increased by 9.8% to USD 4.22 billion in 2024-25, while imports declined by 2.33% to USD 4.44 billion.
•Goyal also mentioned the EU FTA might be implemented next year and urged exporters to utilize these agreements, especially in smaller towns.
