India-China Border Trade via Lipulekh Pass to Resume After Six Years
•Border trade between India and China through the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district is set to resume this year after a six-year hiatus.
•The Union government has directed preparations for the trade session, which typically runs from June to September, following an NOC from the Ministry of External Affairs.
•Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri requested the restoration of trade, with clearances also granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
•The state government has been asked to ensure resumption for the 2026 session, with local officials' contact details to be shared with Chinese counterparts for coordination.
•Authorities are preparing a detailed action plan including transit camps, communication, banking, security, and medical facilities for traders, allowing them to retrieve goods from Tibet's Taklakot.
