India Intensifies Monitoring of Vessels, Seafarers in Tense Gulf Region

India actively monitors its vessels and 23,000 seafarers in the Gulf region amid rising tensions and maritime security concerns.
•
Three Indian-flagged vessels with 76 seafarers are in the Gulf of Oman, and 24 vessels with 677 seafarers are in the Persian Gulf.
•
Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) maintains constant contact, issued advisories, and facilitated the return of 200-225 Indian nationals.
•
Seafarers advised to use DG Shipping helpline, follow safety instructions, and monitor updates from DG Shipping/Ministry of External Affairs.
•
Tragically, 3 Indian nationals reported dead, 1 missing, and 4 injured in the ongoing Gulf crisis; DG Shipping is in contact with affected families.
