India's China Imports Dip in Key Sectors: Jitin Prasada
•
India's imports from China declined in sectors like fertilisers, chemicals, iron and steel, and man-made yarn in 2024-25.
•
Mobile phone imports decreased significantly from Rs 48,609 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 3,710 crore in 2024-25.
•
Conversely, mobile phone exports surged from Rs 1,566 crore in 2014-15 to over Rs 2,05,017 crore in 2024-25.
•
Fertiliser imports from China saw a sharp 61.4% drop, residual chemicals by 19.7%, iron and steel by 10.3%, and man-made yarn by 9.5%.
•
Government encourages businesses to diversify supply chains and reduce reliance on single sources, while regularly monitoring import surges.
