India's Coal Reserves Soar: 88-Day Stockpile Amid West Asia Crisis

Government fully prepared to meet any surge in coal demand due to escalating West Asia tensions.

Overall coal stock in the country stands at 210 million tonnes (MT), adequate for approximately 88 days.
•
Record-high stocks at thermal power plants and coal mines, with production and supply outpacing consumption.
•
Pithead coal stocks at Coal India Ltd (CIL), Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), and captive mines total 156.58 MT, the highest ever.
•
Power plants currently hold 54.05 MT of coal, sufficient for nearly 24 days at the present consumption rate.
