Infra Projects Face Rs 5.52 Lakh Cr Cost Overrun in January

Infrastructure projects worth over Rs 150 crore each registered a cumulative cost overrun of Rs 5.52 lakh crore in January 2026.
•
The revised cost of 1,702 projects monitored by MoSPI stands at Rs 39.25 lakh crore against an original cost of Rs 33.72 lakh crore.
•
645 projects (38%) have achieved over 80% physical progress, while 240 (14%) have crossed 80% completion.
•
Transport & logistics sector leads with 1,180 projects, followed by energy with 218 projects.
•
Three projects were commissioned in January, including a major railway line and a power transmission scheme.
