IUML Demands 5 Assembly Seats from DMK for TN Polls, Cites Karunanidhi's Precedent

•IUML president Kader Mohideen formally requested five assembly constituencies from DMK for the upcoming elections.
•Mohideen advocated for broader Muslim representation, suggesting 16 seats for various Muslim organizations under the DMK alliance.
•He highlighted IUML's role as a "community-based political party" representing over 60 lakh Muslim voters in Tamil Nadu.
•Mohideen referenced late Kalaignar M Karunanidhi's past allocation of five seats to IUML.
•The request was made during a meeting with DMK’s seat-sharing committee led by T R Baalu.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin launched the Anbukkarangal scheme to offer financial support to the education of orphaned children or those who have lost one parent. Under the initiative, a monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 to children upto the age of 18 and helps them continue their education without a break. The government would provide support to the children to pursue their higher education too.

The Anbukkarangal scheme was launched under the Thayumanavar scheme and the monthly aid would be provided to 6,082 children every month, the CM said.
