Jharkhand faces severe LPG shortage: Households, businesses hit, GST revenue at risk

• Jharkhand is experiencing a severe shortage of both domestic and commercial LPG, impacting households and businesses.
• Domestic LPG refill booking intervals increased: urban consumers from 15 to 25 days, rural consumers from 15 to 45 days.
• As of March 16, 3.27 lakh LPG refills from IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL are pending across the state.
• Commercial gas supply slashed by 80% by the Centre, creating a monthly gap of 1,818.51 metric tonnes.
• The shortage will severely affect industrial towns, hotels, restaurants, and lead to a loss of state GST revenue.
