Jharkhand Maoist Surrenders in Odisha, Cites Disillusionment and Fear

• An 18-year-old CPI(Maoist) member, Umblen Honhaga alias Prabhu, from Jharkhand surrendered to Odisha Police in Rourkela.
• Prabhu, an LGSM from Halamuli village in West Singhbhum, joined the outfit in 2024 but became disillusioned with its ideology and harsh forest life.
• Relentless combing operations by security forces instilled fear, prompting his decision to surrender.
• He will receive financial assistance up to Rs 2.64 lakh, a Rs 25,000 marriage incentive, and free skill development programs.
• Prabhu is also eligible for vocational education, a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 for up to 36 months, health cards, and subsidised ration.
