Karnataka Cabinet Defers Electoral Roll Revision Discussion, Approves Police Bill

• The Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday deferred discussions on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
• SIR is an exercise by the Election Commission of India to ensure accurate voter inclusion and exclusion.
• State Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil confirmed the deferral and stated that elector mapping has begun.
• The Cabinet also approved the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
• This amendment empowers the Police Establishment Board (PEB) to transfer officers accused of dereliction of duty, negligence, and misconduct.
