London Mayoral Hopeful Ghanshyam Batra Guilty of Fraud, Sentenced to Suspended Prison Term
- •Indian-origin lettings boss Ghanshyam Sarup Batra, also known as Shyam Batra, who intended to run for London Mayor, has been sentenced for fraud.
- •Batra received a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, for illegally transferring over 100,000 pounds from his company's account to his personal account.
- •The fraud occurred over four days in 2017, shortly after his company, Dylan Lettings Worldwide Limited, and its assets were transferred to a court-appointed Official Receiver.
- •Batra claimed entitlement to the funds, but a jury at the Old Bailey unanimously found him guilty of fraud in anticipation of winding-up.
- •He remains banned as a company director until March 2028 and faces confiscation proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
