Mahad Hosts Convention Marking Centenary of Chavdar Tale Satyagraha

• A convention was held in Mahad, Raigad district, to mark the centenary year of the historic ‘Chavdar Tale Satyagraha’.
• The event was organized by the CPM and Jati Ant Sangharsh Samiti, Maharashtra State Committee, titled ‘Human Rights Convention against Manuwad and Capitalism’.
• Dr B R Ambedkar led the 1927 Satyagraha, asserting Dalit communities’ right to use public water bodies by drinking from Chavdar Tale.
• CPM general secretary M A Baby, politburo members, and state secretary attended, along with Tushar Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson.
• M A Baby urged participants to spread Ambedkar’s legacy and plan a larger gathering on December 25 for the Manusmriti burning centenary.
