Maharashtra Procures 106 Lakh Quintals of Cotton at MSP, Minister Dismisses Malpractice Claims

Maharashtra procured 106.99 lakh quintals of cotton worth Rs 8,497 crore from over five lakh farmers by February 16.
•
Minister Jaykumar Rawal dismissed claims of technical glitches in the 'Kapas Kisan' app and malpractice at procurement centers.
•
Cotton procurement is conducted at MSP through the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), the nodal agency under the Union Textiles Ministry.
•
7.20 lakh farmers successfully registered on the app, with no technical issue complaints to CCI.
•
CCI's procurement is based on average yield data; farmers exceeding this can get additional quantity procured with certification.
