MCD to Unify Park Adoption Policy for RWAs, Tackle Manpower Shortage
•MCD standing committee proposes a unified policy for RWAs to adopt and maintain Delhi parks under a Public Private Partnership framework.
•The initiative aims to address park maintenance challenges and a shortage of malis (gardeners) in the horticulture department.
•RWAs can use their own manpower, receiving Rs 13,500 per acre per month and free compost from MCD's green waste management centers.
•Eligibility requires RWAs to be registered under the Societies Act for over three years, have a functional bank account, and submit audited financials.
•The policy, previously discontinued in 2022 due to budgeting issues, will be tabled at the upcoming standing committee meeting on February 23.
