Mizoram Seizes Rs 816 Cr Drugs, Arrests 338 Since April 2025: Governor

• Mizoram Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Rtd) reported drug seizures worth Rs 816 crore and 338 arrests in 217 cases since April 2025.
• Police also seized Burmese areca nuts worth Rs 17.8 crore, 42 arms, and ammunition, leading to multiple arrests.
• Strong action against illegal liquor trade resulted in 82 cases and 99 arrests, reinforcing Mizoram's dry state status since 2019.
• The Excise and Narcotics department seized 475 kg of drugs and arrested 611 offenders in FY 2025-26, generating over Rs 1.69 crore in revenue.
• The state launched the 'Bana Kaih' scheme (Phase-II) with a Rs 350 crore budget and the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme (MUHCS) offering Rs 5 lakh cashless treatment.
