Odisha Launches Luxury Caravans to Boost Offbeat Tourism, Attract Young Travelers

• Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida flagged off three luxury caravans to promote offbeat destinations and attract young tourists and adventure seekers.
• The initiative, launched under the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme, aims to popularize caravan travel, a concept common in European countries.
• These 6-seater caravans are self-contained vehicles equipped with AC, sleeping arrangements, a kitchenette, and hygienic washrooms.
• In the first phase, the caravans will operate in nine destinations including Hirakud, Debrigarh, Similipal, Chilika, Satkosia, Bhitarkanika, and Deomali.
• Caravan tourism is expected to facilitate travel beyond conventional destinations, supporting regional development and reducing pressure on traditional hubs.
