Opposition MPs demand Rajya Sabha debate on MEA or Commerce Ministry after 14 years

• Opposition leaders in Rajya Sabha sought a discussion on the working of either the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) or the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
• The issue was raised at a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting on Wednesday.
• Opposition MPs highlighted that neither ministry has been discussed in the House since 2010.
• Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan announced BAC's recommendation for government-opposition consultation to decide ministries for discussion.
• The Chairman stated he might identify the ministries if no agreement is reached between the parties.
