Pakistani-Sri Lankan Documentary Wins Big at Jalgaon Film Festival

•A Pakistani-Sri Lankan documentary, "Democracy in Debt: Sri Lanka Beyond the Headlines," will receive two awards at the 2026 Jalgaon International Film Festival in India.
•The film, supported by the Pulitzer Centre, will be honored with 'best social film' and 'best screenplay' awards on March 1.
•Produced by Pakistani journalist Beena Sarwar and Sri Lankan historian Dr SinhaRaja Tammita Delgoda, the documentary explores Sri Lanka's economic crisis.
•It features diverse voices, from farmers and teachers to policymakers and the then Prime Minister.
•The documentary was selected from over 2,500 submissions from 75 countries and has been screened in 25 countries.
