Parliamentary Panel on Simultaneous Polls Gets Tenure Extension

The Lok Sabha extended the tenure of the parliamentary committee examining Bills for simultaneous polls.

The extension is until the Monsoon session of 2026.
•
P P Chaudhary, chairman of the Joint Committee, moved the motion for extension.
•
The committee is scrutinizing the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
•
The panel has consulted constitutional experts, economists, Law Commission members, and several politicians, including former CJIs.
