Power Ministry Forms Panel for NTPC Chief After PESB Fails to Find Successor

• Power ministry will set up a search-cum-selection committee to find the next head of state-owned NTPC.
• This decision comes after the government headhunter PESB failed to identify a suitable candidate for the top post.
• Incumbent CMD Gurdeep Singh's tenure was extended until August 1, 2026, as no successor was found.
• Candidates can apply for the Chairman and Managing Director position at NTPC Limited until March 28, 2026.
• PESB has also failed to find suitable candidates for ONGC, IOC, HPCL, and BPCL since 2021.
