Punjab Unveils New Reward Policy to Nab Wanted Criminals, Gangsters

•Punjab government notifies new reward policy to strengthen action against wanted criminals and gangsters.
•Policy empowers field officers and police wing heads to sanction monetary rewards for public information leading to arrests.
•Police personnel involved in exceptional operations are also eligible for rewards.
•Reward amounts vary: SSPs up to Rs 1 lakh, CPs/IGPs/DIGs up to Rs 1.5 lakh, wing heads up to Rs 2 lakh, and DGP for amounts above Rs 2 lakh.
•The policy covers absconders, proclaimed offenders, habitual offenders, and accused persons evading arrest; informers' identities will remain confidential.
