Sarpanch shot dead in Moga, Punjab; personal rivalry suspected

•Harpinder Singh alias Happy, sarpanch of Patto Hira Singh village, was attacked by 4-5 assailants on Baghapurana-Kotkapura road.
•Assailants fired 10-12 rounds from an SUV after he stepped out of his car; he died in hospital.
•Moga SSP Ajay Gandhi stated personal rivalry is the suspected motive, ruling out gangster involvement.
•Assailants have been identified, and police teams are working to apprehend them.
•This is the third sarpanch killing in Punjab in two months, drawing criticism from SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia against the ruling AAP.
