SC Directs Centre to Join Crucial Meeting on Police Station CCTV Infrastructure
•Supreme Court orders Centre and others to participate in a meeting for a centralised dashboard and standardised CCTV infrastructure in police stations.
•The order came after senior advocate Siddhartha Dave informed the court that the Union, Delhi government, and some states did not attend a previous meeting.
•The Centre apologized for its absence due to a communication gap and assured full cooperation in the next meeting.
•The next meeting is scheduled for March 14, 2026, with the matter posted for hearing on March 23.
•The top court initiated a suo motu PIL on the lack of functional CCTVs and had previously mandated CCTV installation in police stations and investigating agencies to prevent human rights abuses.
