SC Rejects Plea for Intensive Electoral Roll Revision in Poll-Bound Assam
•
The Supreme Court refused to entertain a PIL seeking a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Assam.
•
The bench noted that the final electoral rolls for Assam have already been prepared, rendering the petition infructuous.
•
Petitioner Mrinal Kumar Choudhary challenged the Election Commission's decision to conduct a standard Special Revision instead of SIR.
•
The EC stated that the final electoral roll for Assam was published on February 10.
•
The PIL also sought to quash the EC's memo for Special Revision and exclude Aadhaar for electoral roll inclusion.
