SC to Hear Plea Against Deletion of Voters from West Bengal Electoral Rolls
•Supreme Court agrees to consider a fresh plea against the deletion of electors from West Bengal's electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
•Senior advocate Maneka Guruswamy highlighted that these are electors who previously voted, but their documents were not accepted.
•The plea comes after the SC allowed deployment of judges from West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha to handle 80 lakh claims and objections.
•"Logical discrepancies" like parent name mismatch or significant age differences were cited for deletions.
•The SC had previously directed the WB DGP to file an affidavit regarding alleged burning of EC notices.
