Siddaramaiah Vows to Push Mekedatu Project, Unveils Major Water Schemes
•Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah affirmed the state's commitment to the Mekedatu balancing reservoir scheme, citing a Supreme Court victory against Tamil Nadu's petitions.
•A revised Detailed Project Report and forest clearance proposal for Mekedatu will be submitted to the Government of India soon.
•Progress noted in Yettinahole and Upper Bhadra projects; a 1.2 TMC balancing reservoir planned near Vaderahalli, and Chitradurga canal works by 2027.
•New compensation for Almatti dam height increase: Rs 30 lakh/acre dry land, Rs 40 lakh/acre wet land; Tungabhadra Dam gates to be replaced.
•State to undertake 75 irrigation works worth Rs 8,045 crore across major river basins, focusing on water-use efficiency and new projects like Uduthore Halla.
