Sports Ministry Directs DCCI to Drop 'India' from Name, Cites Lack of Recognition
•The Sports Ministry has instructed the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) to stop using 'India' or 'Indian' in its name and activities.
•The directive is due to DCCI not being a recognised national federation, a status required for using such terms.
•Similar letters were sent to other bodies like the Women’s Football Federation of India and the Indian Body Builders’ Federation.
•DCCI secretary Ravi Kant Chauhan acknowledged the letter and appealed for NSF status, highlighting DCCI's extensive work in differently-abled cricket.
•The ministry also withdrew recognition for the Taekwondo Federation of India and denied it to India Taekwondo, citing non-conformity with the Sports Code.
