• Shankar accumulated 3513 points after four events on day one, ahead of China’s Zihui Hua (3241 points).
• He set a personal best of 7.11 seconds in the 60m dash and a season best of 2.23m in high jump.
• The remaining three events (60m hurdles, pole vault, 1,000m) will conclude on the final day.
