YSRCP Member Flags Polavaram Fund Cut, RINL Privatisation in Rajya Sabha

• YSRCP member Golla Baburao questioned the Centre's allocation of Rs 3,200 crore for the Polavaram project in the Union Budget 2026-27.
• Baburao expressed concern over the meagre sanctions for the mega Polavaram scheme, affecting over five crore people in Andhra Pradesh.
• He highlighted the proposed decrease in Polavaram project height from 45 to 41 metres and urged the Union government to focus on the issue.
• The YSRCP member also raised concerns about the privatisation of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), or Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, and forced voluntary retirements.
• Baburao noted the unfulfilled promise of a Railway Zone for Andhra Pradesh, despite supporting the budget for its development in other sectors.
