Auto Industry Soars: Record January Sales Driven by GST & Policy Support

•India's auto industry achieved its highest-ever January sales in 2026 across PVs, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers.
•Double-digit year-on-year growth was fueled by sustained demand post-GST rate reduction and previous quarter's momentum.
•Domestic PV sales hit 449,616 units (12.6% growth), two-wheeler sales reached 1,925,603 units (26.2% growth), and three-wheeler sales rose to 75,725 units (30.2% growth).
•Scooter sales climbed 36.9%, motorcycles 20.3%, and mopeds 16.1%; passenger carriers and goods carriers in three-wheelers saw significant increases.
•Union Budget 2026 initiatives, including EV supply chains and localization, are expected to provide long-term benefits and support sector growth.
