Intel Eyes India's DLI 2.0: Global Tech Giant Poised to Join Semiconductor Design Scheme
•Intel is in discussions with the Indian government to participate in the upcoming Design Linked Incentive (DLI) 2.0 program under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) once it opens to global firms.
•The DLI 2.0 program aims to deepen indigenous semiconductor design, focusing on compute, RF, networking, power management, sensors, and memory, to help India manufacture up to 80% of electronic systems.
•Intel sees this as an opportunity to strengthen India’s chip design and broader electronics ecosystem, with benefits extending to the wider ODM ecosystem including laptops, servers, and data centers.
•Intel is also contributing to India’s AI Mission with "heterogeneous, affordable AI compute" across cloud, network, edge, and PCs, utilizing its XPU architecture for varied performance levels.
•Intel has a 27-year engineering presence in India, with teams contributing to global product roadmaps, processor design, and custom silicon, and is collaborating with ISM on skilling initiatives.
