Budget 2026: Kisan Credit Card Policy Unchanged, Farmers Retain Existing Benefits

  • Union Budget 2026, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, maintains the existing Kisan Credit Card (KCC) policy without new changes.
  • The KCC framework continues to provide short-term credit to 7.7 crore beneficiaries, including farmers, fishermen, and dairy farmers.
  • The loan limit under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme (MISS) remains at ₹5 lakh, offering an effective interest rate of around 4 percent with prompt repayment.
  • Collateral-free credit up to prescribed thresholds for working capital and production loans also stays in place.
  • Last year's Budget 2025 increased the MISS loan limit from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh; outstanding KCC loans crossed ₹10.05 lakh crore by FY24–25.

Why It Matters: Budget 2026 keeps Kisan Credit Card policy unchanged, ensuring farmers continue to receive existing credit benefits.
