Air India Receives First Custom Dreamliner Post-Privatisation
- •Tata Group-owned Air India took delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner since its privatisation nearly four years ago.
- •This is Air India's first 'line fit' (custom-made) Dreamliner, with title transfer completed at Boeing's Everett factory in Seattle on January 7.
- •The new aircraft features a three-class configuration: economy, premium economy, and business class seats.
- •It's the airline's first wide-body and 52nd overall delivery from the 220 Boeing jets ordered in 2023, following 51 narrow-body deliveries to Air India Express.
- •Post-2022 Tata takeover, Air India ordered 350 Airbus and 220 Boeing planes, with six Airbus A350s already inducted.
Why It Matters: Air India marks a significant fleet upgrade with its first custom Dreamliner delivery post-privatisation by Tata Group.
