Domestic Airline Fuel Prices Rise 8-10% After Initial Hike Confusion
•Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices for domestic scheduled airlines increased by 8-10% across major Indian cities effective April 1.
•The hike follows an earlier confusion where a 115% surge was reported, which IndianOil clarified applied only to non-scheduled carriers.
•New ATF prices in Delhi are ₹1,04,927 per kL, Mumbai ₹98,247 per kL, Kolkata ₹1,09,450 per kL, and Chennai ₹1,09,873 per kL.
•The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that state-run oil companies implemented a partial, staggered 25% increase for domestic airlines to shield travel costs, while international routes face the full hike.
•Rising ATF costs are expected to pressure airline margins and airfares, with the Civil Aviation Ministry exploring options like VAT cuts and capping refining margins.
