India's Industrial Output Soars to 26-Month High of 7.8% in December

  • India's industrial production (IIP) surged by 7.8% in December 2025, marking its fastest growth in 26 months.
  • The robust growth was fueled by strong performances in manufacturing (8.1%), mining (6.8%), and electricity generation (6.3%).
  • IIP growth improved from 6.7% in November, revised upward to 7.2%, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).
  • Consumer durables and non-durables output accelerated to 12.3% and 8.3% respectively, indicating resilient consumer demand.
  • Despite the strong December performance, industrial production growth for April–December FY26 moderated to 3.9%.

Why It Matters: India's industrial sector ended 2025 with significant momentum, driven by broad-based growth and strong demand.
