Govt Expands Mandatory Gold Hallmarking to More Districts; Check Your Area!

Indian government expanded mandatory gold hallmarking to additional districts via a 2026 amendment notification.

Jewelers in notified districts are now prohibited from selling non-BIS hallmarked gold jewelry.

This move aims to protect customers from forged gold jewelry and ensure safety.

Newly added districts include Beawar, Botad, Gadag, Mancherial, Nayagarh, and others across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, and Odisha.
•
BIS Gold Hallmarking, set by the Bureau of Indian Standards, applies to 14, 18, and 22 carat gold jewelry, ensuring accurate metal content.
